Black Horse Resort Ranch is a beautiful campground nestled into a nook of the Ocala National Forest, surrounded on 3 sides by the forest itself. This is truly a place to enjoy nature, camping, campfires, and good company, in a place that feels like home. Founder of Black Horse, JoAnn Cosgrove, would welcome everyone who stayed with "you’re family here.” That is at the heart of our ranch, and we truly hope this will become your home away from home.

We offer 30 and 50amp sites, there is a bath house with full bathrooms, hot water, and laundry, a Community Kitchen you are welcome to use, a screened in Pavilion for meals or hanging out, a POOL! (yes you read that right!) and an air conditioned Clubhouse with couches, games, and wifi. We also offer cabin and RV rentals, and golf cart and kayak rentals when available.

If you have horses, you'll love coming to Black Horse. Multiple trail heads sit right on property, and you literally step off the property and into a matrix of hundreds of miles of trails that you’ll never tire of! We have two barns, many outdoor stalls and paddocks, wash racks, and an extra large riding arena with a crows nest, bleachers, and stadium lighting.

There is world class fishing nearby at the St. John's River and we are right near many beautiful springs - which, if you have never spent time in a natural spring you will absolutely want to check that out! Kayaking, tubing, swimming galore in crystal clear waters. We are a 20 minute drive from the Villages which offers shopping, dining, and activities, as well as 20 minutes to historic Mount Dora which is a beautiful artsy downtown village. We are 1 hour from Daytona & New Smyrna, 1 hour from Orlando (Disney anyone?).

There is plenty to do on the ranch and nearby the ranch. You will have a blast. And at the end of the fun days…we'll see you by the campfire!

Come in your RV or rent one of ours.

Camping is at the heart of Black Horse. If you have an RV, or love to stay in RVs, we were built for you. We offer 30 and 50amp sites, back ins and pull throughs, spots where you can have your horse right near you, and spots where you can get to the hot showers or the laundry in the Bathhouse easily. We accommodate even the larges of rigs. If you don't have your own RV, you can rent one of ours!

Spend an hour on the trails... or the day.

If you have horses... we were built for you too. JoAnn, the founder of Black Horse, wanted to create a place for horse lovers who camp to get away for a weekend and have all the best amenities at their fingertips. She built this amazing facility nestled right into a nook of the Ocala Forest. You step right into the forest off of our property and the gorgeous trails are endless. If you also love arena riding, we have an amazing HUGE arena as well!

Come back and jump in the pool...

Our pool is just the right remedy for tired hiking and riding legs! Jump on in (take your boots off first!) and get cooled off. We have couches and lounge chairs for you at the pool, as well as a screened in Poolhouse with a bathroom. Just bring your own towel!

Our Pavilion is screened in and has overhead fans. It seats ~80 people at restaurant style seating - feel free to move the tables to meet the needs of your group! Attached to the Pavilion is a fully stocked ranch kitchen you are welcome to use!

Later, kick back in the Clubhouse.

Our Clubhouse is a comfortable air conditioned space you can hang out with friends and play games. We have a stack of board games, table checkers, cards, PACMAN!, and more waiting for you. You can get on Wifi in the Clubhouse as well.

Okay, Okay, I'm Ready to Book!
And end the night with a fire.

The best nights at Black Horse end with a fire. Kick back in your chair and enjoy the sizzle and crackle. During the Winter Season we have big fires and everyone gathers 'round. We have a big Firepit area down by the Pavilion for groups, parties, and events, and we also have individual firepits that you can use at your site. We always say.... "we'll see ya by the fire!"
